Rectal diseases affect every second person in the population over the course of life. Despite a great deal of suffering, the presentation in a specialist clinic often only takes place very late. Many diseases of the rectum and anus can be treated permanently with good results.

Common symptoms such as annoying itching or burning, pain when defecating, oozing of the skin, excessive urge to defecate with a feeling of incomplete emptying, feeling of pressure in the perineal area, bleeding of blood, or even incontinence (inability to restrain bowel movement) may be signs of rectal disease. The function of the rectum in conjunction with the complex anatomy of the pelvic floor requires a great deal of experience for diagnosis and treatment and, in some cases, the cooperation of several medical disciplines. Thanks to my many years of experience as a senior physician and surgeon, I am very familiar with the suffering and reduced quality of life of patients. That is why personal, trusting and respectful care of all patients — from initial presentation to completion of treatment — is absolutely paramount for me.
